Content Guidelines Take Hold.(Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association benchmarks for wireless services)

By Mark Rockwell Carriers maneuver to implement various parts of CTIA's guidelines as parental groups give their cautious approval. WASHINGTON-Weeks after CTIA introduced a set of content guidelines for wireless services, carriers are moving to implement the plans in varying degrees.
The association unveiled the guidelines in November after months of development and brewing concern about inappropriate wireless content making it into the hands of minors. CTIA's guidelines, which use similar benchmarks for decency that were developed by the broadcast and movie industries, are a voluntary pledge by the industry to provide tools and controls for consumers to manage wireless content as more advanced services enter the market.
