European Cordless Technology Coming to U.S.

By Brad Smith FCC approves unlicensed spectrum that will be used by DECT providers. The European cordless telephone system known as DECT, or Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications, is headed to the United States, aiming to provide voice services for PBX systems in small- to medium-sized enterprises.
DECT (the "E" used to stand for European) is a cellular telecommunications system but with small cell sizes with a radius of 300 feet or less. The technology was standardized by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and has been adopted around the world.
