The concept of spirituality is not new to the counseling profession. Current researchers have suggested that spirituality has reintroduced itself as a primary interest (Frame, 2000; Polanski, 2003). The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (4th ed., DSM-IV; American Psychiatric Association [APA], 1994) lists "Religious or Spiritual Problem" under additional conditions that may be a focus of clinical attention.
