Michael L. Morgan, a professor of philosophy and Jewish studies at Indiana University, edited (with Oxford University Press) A Holocaust Reader: Responses to the Nazi Extermination in 2000, a volume that presented a selection of twenty-two voices. The 2001 volume under review here narrows the focus to five theological and philosophical thinkers whose work developed from the later 1960s and had appeared by 1982. Morgan defines "Jewish thought" as "Jewish self-understanding from a religious point of view."
