Karol Mysliwiec is a professor of archaeology at Warsaw University, the director of the Polish excavation at Saqqara in Egypt, and the author of Pan Obydwu Krajow (1993), which has been translated into English as The Twilight of Ancient Egypt: First Millennium B.C.E. (1998). In Eros on the Nile, originally Eros nad Nilem (1998), he draws on literature and material culture to present an overview of love and sexuality in ancient Egypt that is neither prudish nor sensationalistic.
