AT&T OFFERED STAKES IN TELKOM. The government will offer stake in PT Telkom to the U.S. telecommunications giant AT&T as a solution to dragging dispute between Telkom and its joint operation (KSO) partner PT AriaWest International, a subsidiary of AT&T in West Java. A group of more than 30 shareholders and creditors of AriaWest have met with President Megawati Soekarnoputri when they visited the country recently to hear about the fate of PT AriaWest.

AT&T is a 35% shareholder of PT Ariawest International through MediaOne International BV, which is wholly owned by AT&T. AriaWest has filed suit against PT Telkom with an international arbitration demanding compensation for its investment under the KSO project in West Java.
