Korea Gas seeks to increase imports of LNG from Tangguh.(CORPORATE NEWS IN BRIEF)

Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas) is seeking to imports more liquefied natural gas (LNG) by taking over LNG from Tangguh, Papua, originally to be supplied to the U.S. West Coast. West Coast is not yet ready to import LNG from Tangguh as it is yet to complete the construction of a receiving terminal.

This year Kogas needs to import 25.39 million tons of LNG , up from 24.60 million tons last year with a sales target of 25.38 million tons including 15.31 million tons to urban consumers and 10.07 million tons to feed gas fired power plants. In 2008, Kogas needs to increase LNG imports , therefore, it will need more supply from Tangguh, which is expected to start production in the last quarter of that year.
