Merck & Co., Inc., Whitehouse Station, N.J., has entered into an agreement to license its patented mercury vapor removal technology to Superior Adsorbents, Inc., a specialty sorbents manufacturer.

Merck developed its mercury vapor technology for use in an environmental remediation process. Based on the company's successful application of the technology, Merck decided to license it out, recognizing that its use could have wide reaching environmental benefits in applications such as trash and medical waste incineration and in the coal-fired utility industry.
