In the United States, mental illness occurs in at least 12% of children and adolescents (7 to 12 million) (Greenberg et al., 1993). Depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) are among the most common conditions in young individuals. Depression occurs in approximately 5% and OCD affects 2% to 4% of juveniles (Douglass et al., 1995; Tadai et al., 1995; Wilson et al., 1995).
