Ethics--the story continues.(Editor's Letter)

In our last issue, we focused on the theme of ethics in the jewelry sector. It is a theme that affects all aspects of the industry, from the mining of diamonds and precious metals, to the cutting and polishing of gemstones, to the conditions faced by workers in factories around the world.

During the World Diamond Congress, which I attended recently in Israel, the focus was also on ethics, personal and corporate responsibility, and instilling and maintaining consumer confidence. Speaker after speaker emphasized the need to educate consumers on the positive steps that have been and are being taken to eliminate problems such as conflict diamonds, improper working conditions, etc. There was also great concern and discussion about the upcoming movie, Blood...
