During the annual Gravure Day held on November 2 at Cal Poly, Walter Siegenthaler from MDC was presented a "Partners in Education" plaque from the school as part of the dedication ceremony honoring the companies involved with the B710 project.

The engraver was donated by Southern Graphics Systems and was refurbished at MDC's faciltiy in Dayton, OH, USA. Daetwyler also added the Collage layout software. The project included donations from Xitron Inc. (the RIP package) and Chardon Tool (the cutting tools). The Gravure Education Foundation, part of the Gravure Association, also assisted through their resource center grant program.

The B710 is one of the most commonly used engravers in the US today. Driving the engraver is Daetwyler's latest version of the Collage layout system. The software provides students the opportunity to create engraving layouts identical to those in the industry.

Cal Poly offers a program for receiving a bachelor of science degree in graphic communication with concentrations in printing management, electronic publishing and imaging, packaging graphics, and design reproduction technology.
