Executive suite: At Triple Crown Media Inc. of Atlanta, Ga., Michael Gebhart has been named executive vice president; he remains publisher of the company's Albany Herald, also in Georgia, a job he's held since October 2005. Previously, Gebhart spent 18 months as the paper's general manager and before that was senior vice president of Morning Star Publishing Co. of Mount Pleasant, Mich. Before that, Gebhart was president and publisher of ACME Newspapers Inc. of Ardmore, Pa., and was ad director of both Connecticut's New Haven Register and The Trentonian of Trenton, N.J. ...

Publishers: At the Union Democrat in Sonora, Calif., Ron Horton has been named publisher; previously, he was publisher of The Observer in La Grande, Ore. A 30-year newspaper veteran, Horton has worked in advertising and business operations at six papers, including Florida's St. Petersburg Times and Washington state's Skagit Valley Herald. Horton replaces Geoff White, who is retiring after nine years as publisher. ... At The Register-Mail of Galesburg, Ill., Tony Scott has been named publisher; previously, he was publisher of the Daily Review Atlas on Monmouth (both are GateHouse Media papers) and he will remain a western regional vice president of GateHouse. A 13-year newspaper veteran, Scott started in the business as a sales rep at the Review Atlas and helped convert the The Paper of Galesburg from a shopper to a weekly. ... At Illinois' Springfield State Journal-Register, Scott Bowers has been named publisher; previously, he was statewide group controller for GateHouse Media Inc., a job he's held since May. A 30-year newspaper veteran, Bowers has worked at Wisconsin's Racine Journal Times and the Beloit Daily News. ... At Nevada's Lahotan Valley News and Fallon Eagle-Standard, Keven Todd has been named publisher; most recently, he was sales manager at South Carolina's Myrtle Beach Sun News. A 28-year publishing veteran, Todd has worked in sales management at the Dallas Morning News and Kentucky's Louisville Courier-Journal. ... At Texas' Longview News-Journal, Gary Borders has been named publisher; previously he was publisher of the Lufkin Daily News (both are Cox papers). A 40-year veteran of Texas newspapers, Borders was also the executive editor at the Daily News and editor and publisher of the Daily Sentinel in Nacogdoches. Earlier in his career Borders worked as a reporter, editor and publisher at smaller Texas dailies and weeklies; he started his career as a reporter at the Daily News in the early 1970s. Taking Borders' place in Lufkin will be Tim Hobbs; previously, Hobbs was publisher of the Daily Advance in Elizabeth City, N.C. (another Cox paper), a job he's held since 1997. Earlier, Hobbs was ad director of the Longview News-Journal and was marketing director of both the Daily Sentinel and the Daily News. Before that, he held a variety of jobs at Cox's Ohio paper, the Dayton Daily News. ... At the Journal Times in Racine, Wis., Rick Parrish has been named publisher; previously, he was the paper's ad director, a job he's held since 2005. Earlier, Parrish was retail ad manager at the Idaho Statesman in Boise and before that held a variety of jobs at the Seattle Times, where he served as an ad sales executive, on-line sales executive, ad sales manager and general manager of the paper's distribution subsidiary. ...

Editors: At Alabama's Huntsville Times, Bob Ludwig has been named editor; he remains publisher, a job he's held since 1994. Earlier, Ludwig was editor of The Gazette-Telegraph in Colorado Springs, Colo., and was metro editor of Michigan's Grand Rapids Press and was vice president of sales at Booth Newspapers. Also at the Times, Curtis Coghlan has been named managing editor; previously, he was the paper's metro editor and before that had earlier served as the paper's managing editor. Coglan's career includes stints as executive editor of the Daily Advertiser in Lafayette, La. and as a business reporter and editor at the Atlanta Journal Constitution. The two appointments come in response to the early medical retirement of Melinda Gorham; she had been editor of the paper since 2002. A 27-year veteran of the paper, Gorham worked in a variety of editing jobs before being named managing edtior in 1995. ... At Northern California's Press-Tribune in Roseville and Granite Bay, Susan Belknap has been named editor; previously, she was editor of the Loomis News (both are Gold Country Media papers). Belknap got her start in journalism on her high school newspaper and has worked for a half-dozen papers in Northern and Southern California, including a five-year stint at the Agoura Acorn. ... At The Day in New London, Conn., Timothy Cotter has been named managing editor; previously, he was the editor of the paper's web site. An 18-year veteran of The Day, Cotter has served as city edtior and assistant managing editor. ... At Detroit News, Donald Nauss has been named managing editor; previously, he was deputy managing editor. An eight-year veteran of the paper, Nauss has been auto editor, business editor and assistant managing editor. Earlier, Nauss spent a decade at the Los Angeles Times, including six as Detroit bureau chief. ...
