UAW announces national multi-plant agreement.(Manufacturing News)

Axle Alliance, a DaimlerChrysler affliate that manufactures axles for the automaker's plants in North America, and the United Autoworkers union have announced a new national multi-plant collective bargaining agreement. This is the first multi-plant agreement negotiated by the UAW in two decades.
Axle Alliance also announced a series of major multimillion-dollar expansions, including a new gear set machining and assembly operation in its facility in Redford, MI, as well as an investment in a new component system assembly plant in Kings Mountain, NC. These investments are expected to result in a workforce increase from about 200 currently to more than 500 within the next two years.
