Hotels: ranked by the number of guest rooms in the greater San Fernando Valley

San Fernando Valley Business Journal, April 16, 2007 by Chris Coates

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

THE Valley hotel market saw a significant shift in 2006 as the area added a number of properties in the Conejo and Santa Clarita valleys.

The largest was the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, part of the $250 million Dole Wellness Center and Spa near the headquarters of Dole Food Co. The 270-room hotel, which opened in December, now registers in the No. 9 position, knocking the 266-room Airtel Plaza Hotel and Conference Center in Van Nuys down one notch.

The biggest change on this year's list occurred among hotels with around 120 rooms, the result of a handful new properties by Valencia-based Ocean Park Hotels coming online.

The Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City continues to lay claim to the most expensive suite in the Valley area, which increased from $1,600 a night to $2,000 this year.--Chris Coates

HOLIDAY INN BURBANK MEDIA CENTER

THE 490-room Holiday Inn Burbank Media Center continues to rank as the largest hotel in the Valley area, again beating out nearby Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel & Convention Center, which comes in at 488 rooms this year.

The 20-story Holiday Inn includes 120 suites, two lounges, restaurant, heated pool, fitness center and business center. Holiday Inn also has 16,593 square feet of exhibit space and 21 meeting rooms.

The complex at 150 E. Angeleno Ave. near the Burbank Town Center opened in 1982 and received a large-scale upgrade in 2002.--Chris Coates
