Largest hotels: ranked by number of guest rooms in the greater San Fernando Valley area
San Fernando Valley Business Journal, April 14, 2008 by James Hames
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
TRAVELERS seeking a top-shelf hotel suite have a number to choose from in the greater Valley area, from the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village which can run almost $3,800, to the $1,200 suite at the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City, to the comparatively modest $749 suite at the Hotel Amarano in Burbank.
The Presidential Suite at the Four Seasons is on the seventh floor and overlooks the hotel's, landscaped courtyard and distant foothills. Their website describes the 2,525-square-foot extravagance as having "cherry hardwood floors accented by handmade area rags," that "enhance the elegant mahogany furnishings, rich color scheme and crystal chandeliers." The suite opens into a grand foyer, and beyond is an onyx hearth accenting the fireplace, a kitchen with wine storage and a sub-zero fridge, a 42-inch plasma screen HD TV. The full marble bathroom has a whirlpool tub, steam shower, bidet, double vanity and a 12-inch flat-screen TV. Plus there's guest powder room. They offer an extra bed by request, either a crib or a rollaway.
THE PACESETTER HOLIDAY INN BURBANK MEDIA CENTER
HOLIDAY Inn tops this year's list of Valley-area hotels with its Burbank Media Center property, a mid-range hotel with over 600 rooms including 120 suites plus 21 conference rooms (16,593 square feet) for meetings and gatherings.
The facility sits in the heart of the revitalized Burbank business district off of the Golden State Freeway, close to the entertainment companies that are located in the suburb: Disney/ABC, Warner Bros., Dreamworks, CBS, NBC and a few minutes down the road, Universal Studios. It's also just minutes from the Bob Hope Airport and Metrolink and Amtrak stations.
At 20 stories, the hotel dominates the Burbank skyline. The building was renovated in 2002 and boasts 600 parking spaces.
Under the Intercontinental Hotel Group umbrella, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites brands cover the greater Valley region with more than 1,500 rooms from Burbank to Camarillo to Palmdale.
