In 1978, a young W Spencer Hsu flew from Taiwan to the United States to attend Georgia Southern University to earn an M.B.A. He was armed with $50 cash, a marginal knowledge of the English language, and the hope of marrying his sweetheart, who was studying in Texas.

Having cleared those financial, linguistic, and marital hurdles, Hsu now serves as postmaster of the United States Postal Service in Akron, Ohio. He holds three academic degrees, including a master's in industrial and systems engineering, and is a living example of the power of the American dream.
