Ellen DeGeneres pitches for American Greetings

Chain Drug Review, June 4, 2007

CLEVELAND -- American Greetings Corp. and television star Ellen DeGeneres have teamed up to create a line of greeting cards based on the comedienne and talk show host's humor.

Called the ellen collection, the 32-line card collection will feature pictures of the comedienne along with what American Greetings describes as "her witty and quirky observations about ordinary, daily-life situations."

The collection will offer cards for birthdays, friendship, thank-yous and encouragement. The line win debut this summer.

"American Greetings is excited to partner with Ellen and bring her sense of humor to life on this special collection of cards," says senior vice president of sales and marketing Steven Willensky about the licensing deal.

"Her authentic humor embodies exactly what today's women find the funniest," he says "The everyday, shared experiences she jokes about are far funnier than anything that could be made up, and are exactly what endears her to so many people. People will find that the new cards really capture Ellen's personality and sense of humor."

The introduction of the ellen collection is part of American Greetings' plans to launch a wide variety of humorous cards this summer.
