MAP Pharma, AstraZeneca will develop asthma drug

AstraZeneca PLC and MAP Pharmaceuticals have agreed to develop and commercialize the latter's pediatric asthma drug. MAP is working on unit-dose budesonide as a potential treatment for asthma in patients from 1 to 8 years old. AstraZeneca will make an up-front cash payment of $40 million to MAP.

Separately, AstraZeneca has submitted a supplemental new drug application for Nexium as a short-term treatment of gastroesophageal disease in infants.
