Who wants to be a jewelry manufacturer in Israel today? To be more precise, who wants to try to manufacture jewelry in Israel now, at a time when those items that were once produced profitably in Israel are now made at considerably lower cost in China and other Asian countries?

In recent decades, Israel's jewelry industry has lost almost all of the production lines that once formed its very backbone. Almost all the companies that once produced gold chains and ropes in Israel have gone into other lines of business, or gone belly up. Machine-made products are rare, as the mass production lines have been transferred to low-wage countries or overtaken by firms based there.
