Namdeb working harder to develop new diamond mines.(FACETS)

Namdeb, the 50-50 diamond mining joint venture between De Beers and the Namibian government, is starting a number of ambitious new projects to increase offshore mining as its land reserves are depleted and the company still strives to reach the goal of producing Nam. $43 billion (U.S.$6.1 billion) worth of rough diamonds between 2006 and 2010.
In 2006, the company produced 2.174 million carats of diamonds worth Nam. $5.23 billion (U.S.$743 million), compared to 1.712 million carats in 2005.
