CTS Corp.'s Electrocomponents division has expanded its Series 448 slide potentiometer product line to include an integral SPDT ac power switch. The company previously offered only an SPST switch. With the new Series 448 switch-potentiometer combination, engineers can achieve both linear variable resistance adjustment and SPDT switch actuation in one device.
The leaf switch consumes only slightly more board space than a standard slide potentiometer configuration. Typical applications include home automation and instrumentation and control. A standard 20-mm slide potentiometer with SPDT switch sells for less than $0.90 each in production quantities.
