It is now official - Lockheed Martin will be building its version of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) for the US Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps, as well as for the British Royal Air Force and Navy. Under a $200 billion contract award with a total of over 3000 aircraft to be built, Lockheed Martin will begin producing the initial 22-count stealthy, supersonic, multi-role fighters in what was formerly known as the EMD phase but is now termed System Design and Development (SDD).
