Like the artillery projectile, the mortar round is moving from an era where fuzes were relatively cheap to a time when users are demanding ever more sophisticated operating modes. However, the low cost of mortar projectiles compared to their artillery counterparts creates a market expectation by some users that the associated fuze will have a low price tag.
