* THE UNITED KINGDOM: The Soil Association Certification Ltd., Bristol, has introduced new standards for all types of beauty products, such as face creams and shampoos. Previously, the standards only applied to select items such as lip balm and bath oils. Products that carry the Soil Association label must be minimally processed, non-toxic, environmentally friendly and contain no genetically-modified ingredients, hydrogenated fat, petroleum-related ingredients or sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sufate.

Association executives also noted products containing 95% organic ingredients can be labeled organic, otherwise products with less than 70% organic ingredients can be labeled, "made with (the number)% organic ingredients."
