The Supply-Chain Council attempts to define a standard way to improve supply chain processes amongst manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and retailers. The Council introduced the Supply Chain Operations Reference model, which has quickly become the standard adopted for supply chains. The supply chain of a company is becoming increasingly important for business success and high revenue growth.

The Supply-Chain Council (SCC) was initiated as an unincorporated grass roots activity in 1 996 by AMR Research and Pittiglio Rabin Todd & McGrath (PRTM) and their clients to create a standard to improve supply chain processes among manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and retailers.
