A fuel cell in your future.(DaimlerChrysler AG intensifies research on fuel-cell car)(Brief Article)
Industry Week, July, 1999 by TERESKO, JOHN
DaimlerChrysler AG's NECAB 4 is the latest example of the research intensity that promises to put fuel-cell cars in showrooms by 2004. Using liquid hydrogen, the prototype can reach 90 mph with a range of nearly 280 miles before refueling. The fuel-cell system, now miniaturized, fits beneath the floor.
DaimlerChrysler says both hydrogen- and methanol-powered fuel cells will be used initially. By 2010, it predicts that gasoline also could power vehicles using fuel cells.
