* Kent D. McElhattan is trying to be a revolutionary. The president and CEO of Industrial Scientific Corp., Pittsburgh, has the immediate goal of overthrowing the established hard-wired approach to industrial sensing systems and replace it with his wireless vision. If he's successful, hard-wired systems no longer will be the industry standard for monitoring and control systems and industrial users will be happy to have increased functionality at half the price. His two-dozen competitors, all of whom sell and install hard-wired systems, will have to contend with an upstart trying to capture a major position in a $700 million market.
