Carly Fiorina, Hewlett-Packard Co.'s president and CEO, is proving she not only can imagine but also deliver some solid top-line growth numbers. Net revenue for the Palo Alto, Calif., technology-based firm was $11.82 billion in its third fiscal quarter, which ended July 31, 2000. That's a solid 15% better than the $10.32 billion posted in the comparable quarter in 1999. Net income for the quarter rose 23% to $1.05 billion, or $1.01 per diluted share.

For the first nine months of its 2000 fiscal year, HP's net revenues totaled $35.52 billion, 15% better than the $31.01 billion during fiscal 1999's first three quarters. However, the advance in net income was decidedly more modest: up only 2% to $2.78 billion, or $2.68 per diluted share.
