ANDREW ANAGNOST REFERS TO AUTODESK'S PRODUCT LIFECYCLE management (PLM) strategy as ' AutoCadding the PLM market." As Autodesk's senior director of products and solutions, he hopes his PLM market entry, Productstream 2, will be a classic repeat of how the company helped make CAD a pervasive solution for small and midsize manufacturers.

His assessment: PLM is emerging from a past of being an important technology tool relegated to the costly reengineering of large companies, "Today, for small and medium-sized companies, integrating product data with enterprise processes is as much a business imperative as having a CAD strategy."
