Data on the epidemiology of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures of professional soccer players, which required surgical treatment, are scarce in the literature. We asked the sports physicians of the 18 teams competing in the Italian First League 2002-2003 Championship to administer a questionnaire to their players.
