Five years following the destruction on 9/11 of the World Trade Center and its renowned restaurant, Windows on the World, on the 107th floor, another restaurant, Colors, opened in its memory. The fine-dining establishment was a cooperative venture run by surviving Windows on the World employees in conjunction with Restaurant Opportunities Center of New York, a non-profit organization representing 22 countries. Its mission was to be a worker-owned cooperative restaurant dedicated to food quality, service excellence and employee welfare.
