Stride Rite suitor team receives additional punch
GREENWICH, Conn. - The attempt by Walsh Greenwood & Co. and FS Champ Associates to acquire Stride Rite Corp., Cambridge, Mass., took a new twist last week when the suitors revealed they had been joined by Roger Holland, former president and chief executive of Champion Products Inc., Rochester, N.H., who is an apparel industry veteran and has some experience in the footwear industry.
Although the investor firms declined to specify the exact role Holland would play in the proposed acquisition, sources immediately suggested that Holland would probably become the new head of Stride Rite if the acquisition attemptis successful.
