Kinney sets global growth plan

CHICAGO - Kinney Shoe Corp., New York, last week mapped out an ambitious '90s growth plan for its Foot Locker and five other athletic divisions with a goal of at least 1,750 U.S. Foot Locker stores by '95 and a total of 5,000 athletic stores worldwide by the end of 2000.

LaMoine Adams, senior vice president of Kinney in charge of all athletic divisions, addressed vendors gathered at the National Sporting Goods Association's (NSGA) World Sports Expo, lashing out against those who discount and are late delivering products.

"All of you can help us by not flooding the market with commodity shoes so that (others) can retail your shoes at a lower price than the stores that sell it at full price every day of the week,"...
