Retail unit debuts at Adidas world HQ. (Adidas Worldwide opens retail store to sell discontinued items and factory seconds)

HERZOGENAURACH, Germany (FNS) -- Adidas Worldwide has opened a retail store at its headquarters to sell discontinued items and factory seconds.

The 5,350-square-foot store replaces the now-closed factory outlet at Thungfeld, where Adidas had sales of "well over 1 million Deutsche marks ($625,000)," according to Ronald Langer, managing director of Adidas Germany.

Langer said the new store, with about 2,000 items, is "not meant to be the prototype of an Adidas shop" and is only a temporary setup while Adidas looks for a permanent store location in Herzogenaurach.

With an "enhanced location" in Herzogenaurach, Langer estimated the store would surpass the Thungfeld location in terms of sales revenue.
