Unlike some of her counterparts at other footwear companies, Natalie Candrian is living in a man's world and wouldn't have it any other way.

Since 1998, the 27-year-old has served as head designer for Adidas' men's basketball shoe division. But when the German company recently tapped Candrian to head up its new women's basketball line -- set to launch for spring 2003 -- she refused, passing the job off to a male co-designer.
