BBC INT'L SLATED TO SIGN AIRWALK; HIRES DR. MARTENS EXEC TO LEAD IT.(Bob Landerman)

NEW YORK -- BBC International is expected to add well-known skate label Airwalk to its brand roster, and in a related move has appointed former Dr. Martens exec Bob Landerman to oversee the label.

At press time, Boca Raton-based BBC International was close to signing a three-year licensing deal with Golden, Colo.-based Tare7 for the design, production and distribution of Airwalk footwear. As reported, Tare7 had been actively seeking partners for the label since early June.

In June, Airwalk President and CEO Bruce Pettet told Footwear News that although Tare7 revenues had grown in the last several years, the company did not have the working capital to maintain inventories and would need partners in order to grow.
