SANTA BARBARA -- Global Brand Marketing Inc. is nothing if not ambitious.
The company plans to chase a larger piece of the footwear market this year by acquiring new brands as well as growing its existing roster, with the ultimate goal of creating $600 million in sales by 2007 and $1 billion in sales by 2010, according to Chairman and CEO Killick Datta.
"I think this is achievable," said Datta, speaking to a crowd of more than 500 at the company's annual global conference here last week. "We have a long way to go to tap the potential of our brands."
On the acquisition front, Datta said GBMI is on the hunt for a high-end women's couture label and/or license, as well as a kids' brand. "Within the next year,...
