NEW YORK -- The ink is barely dry on Jones Apparel Group's deal to acquire Maxwell Shoe, but two of Maxwell's top executives have already left the company.
According to company sources, CEO Mark Cocozza and COO Jim Tinagero sent out brief letters to employees earlier this month announcing their departures.
"They realized when the company was taken over that they had done what they wanted to do," said a source, who wished to remain anonymous. "There was certainly some redundancy with Rhonda [Brown, CEO and president of Jones Apparel's footwear group] and Mark [Cocozza]."
Jones Apparel confirmed both departures, but declined to comment on any further details about the acquisition. "We have just begun...
