While Terry de Havilland's classic platform designs of the 1970s are featured in museum exhibits, his high-flying business had nearly hit rock bottom by the time the BBC opted to feature him and his plight in March 2004.

The program showed how the designer's shoes had been rediscovered by vintage hounds. However, de Havilland's business had fallen off by this point, with the designer struggling to make ends meet through film work ("Velvet Goldmine," "Harry Potter") and private commissions. Even more interesting, the program exposed how Miuccia Prada had unwittingly recreated one of his 1973 styles, detail for detail, in her spring '03 Miu Miu collection.
