In a rare interview with the press, Chief Designer Maurizio Dori offered Footwear News a sneak peek at Rodo's spring '06 collection. "I was inspired by Mediterranean islands burned by the sun, all the many impressions of white," said Dori. He pointed to such styles as flat Roman sandals in luxe suedes and exotic skins, materials including natural rope and straw combined with soft whites, python skins softened by pearlized finishes and metallic woven leathers "reminiscent of the glamour of the Fifties, the era in which my father founded Rodo."
Even while designing some 150 pairs of shoes and 60 bags per season, Dori said he is able to maintain his focus. "I was born in a leather-goods factory; I love this job," he reflected....
