Ann Aiken
WSA, which was founded in 1942 as Western Shoe Association, owes much of its current success to Ann Aiken. Aiken came to WSA in 1977 and oversaw the transition from regional shoe show to a global event -- averaging about 22,400 attendees a season, including 12,500 buyers, 5,000 members and 5,400 company executives. Under Aiken, WSA also began offering services such as participation at regional and international markets, life insurance, financial assistance, legal services and job opportunity listings.
