Sportie ID: To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Los Angeles-based retailer Sportie LA recently played host to an intimate gathering of 40 friends and customers, including R&B songstress Macy Gray. Party goers had a chance to customize their own pair of Nike shoes through the Nike ID Website.

Footwear News caught up with DJ Van Hameren, GM of Nike ID, who marveled at the progress the site has made since launching in 1999.

"We're really starting to understand what consumers want, in terms of ID, and how they want to express themselves through the Nike brand," he said. "Just within Air, there are, like, three billion design options."

So, has anyone designed a custom shoe in a colorway so...
