Just Friends?: One week after rumors surfaced that Foot Locker had made a play for Brown Shoe's Famous Footwear division, the companies' two chiefs, Matt Serra and Ron Fromm, spent last Wednesday together in New York. But the two weren't making any deals. Instead, they were hammering out plans for Two Ten's annual charity dinner, set for December. Serra told Footwear News on Thursday that he had met Fromm "several" times, mostly related to Two Ten events. But Serra did acknowledge that "we had a five-minute introductory conversation at the last WSA, and I told him that if he ever wanted to sell his company, to let me know. He was very cordial, but said his company was not for sale."
