City officials hailed the annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival (May 5-7) as the rebirth of a city devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Judging by the crowds that filled the festival grounds, Bourbon Street and famed Jackson Square, New Orleans is indeed on the road to recovery. Tourists came out in full force, ambling around the French Quarter in comfort sandals, flip-flops and athletic shoes.
