NEW YORK - Designers are universally applauding Saks Fifth Avenue's renovation plans, which will recast the eighth floor as a luxury footwear haven complete with its own zip code: 10022-SHOE.

Both the retailer's existing partners and labels that will be added as a result of the expansion told Footwear News that they are excited by Saks' vision. "I think it's really, really cool," said Alejandro Ingelmo, a designer who will be new to Saks come August. "I just started working with them, and I love the whole idea of what they're trying to do. ... I think it's probably going to be the best shoe department in New York."
