Stock Forecast: Investors in the retail sector are expected to "remain on edge" until the potential impact of an interest rate hike are factored in, according to a research report released last week by Jefferies & Co. "In general, periods of increased economic uncertainty often result in higher volatility and/or market sell-offs, which lead to further selling as investors turn increasingly cautious and become net sellers of shares," Jefferies analyst Tim Allen wrote. "Therefore, we anticipate a higher level of market volatility and investor apprehension until expectations of future economic prospects have sufficiently discounted any near-term negative impacts."
