The arrival of Willie Walsh as CEO led to what employees had feared and insiders had anticipated: More cost cuts. Only two months after taking over formally from Rod Eddington on Oct. 1, 2005, Walsh announced plans to cut the ranks of senior and middle management staff by 35% by March 2008, when BA combines all its London Heathrow operations into the new Terminal 5.
