Computers spur office design changes. (excerpts from John Diebold's keynote address at NEOCON)

International management authority John Diebold, in his keynote address at the recent NEOCON 16 in Chicago's Merchandise Mart told an audience of designers how he thinks information technology is changing the ground rules of office design. These changes, Diebold said, are in three inter-related areas: in optimizing available space; in enhancing work and information flow; and in selecting appropriate equipment, furniture and fixtures.

He referred specifically to a recent survey by his organization, the Diebold research Program, of office automation users in 500 large organizations in the U.S. and Canada. Some of the reported findings were:
