ABB Inc. sold some unspecifed parts of its Robot Automation Systems Group to Rimrock Corp., suppliers of diecasting machinery and automation. Then, ABB and Rimrock agreed to join as partners in Rimrock Automation Inc., a new company now holding the assets.

Rimrock has been ABB's largest system integrator in North America.

The agreement between the two companies is seen helping both companies to grow their market share in the manufacturing markets by building on ABB's reputation in robotic automation. Rimrock Automation will address general industrial customers with application in material handling, machine tending, and material removal.
