Gary F. Ruff has added the title of chairman to his executive roles at Intermet Corp. The Troy, MI, company is a manufacturer of automotive powertrain, chassis, suspension, and structural components.
Ruff is taking over the chairmanship from John Doddridge, who has retired. Doddridge, chairman since 1994, will remain on the board as a director.
Ruff joined Intermet in 1999 as v.p. of technical services. He had previously been president of North American Wheels and corporate vice president for Hayes Lemmerz Intl. He began his career in the auto industry with General Motors in 1969.
